The first event — Santa’s South Pole Swim — will take place Saturday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Bring your kids to the facility for an indoor holiday pool party, complete with reindeer games, paddleboard rides with elves and aquatic sled riding.
Santa Claus will be on deck and available for pictures too.
All children 12 and under will be able to decorate their very own stocking, provided on a first come, first served basis. Preregistration is $5 per swimmer, and tickets will cost $7 on the day of the event. If you prefer not to swim, all spectator tickets are $2.
The second event taking place at the Kingsport Aquatic Center is the Polar Plunge Challenge on Jan. 1.
For this frigid event, you’ll first pick a charity or organization you’re passionate about, while encouraging your friends and family to support you. To join, you’ll need to create a profile on the Kingsport Aquatic Center’s GoFundMe charity page and make a donation to the charity or charities you want to take the plunge for.
Check-in for the Polar Plunge Challenge will be in the lobby at 12:45 p.m. on Jan. 1. The goal of this year’s event is to raise $5,000 collectively for various charities. There is no charge to participate, but the Kingsport Aquatic Center encourages everyone to raise at least $50.
