The ornaments, distributed by the Scott County Chamber of Commerce, feature an eagle above the phrase “Eagles on the Clinch.”
The ornament represents eagles nesting on the Clinch River and is based on a photograph by Jennifer Fletcher Meade, a native of Scott County who refers to her photography as “Journey through Light.”
Where to purchase
The ornaments are $10 each and can be purchased at the Quik Stop Markets in Gate City and Weber City, the Red Roof Center in Weber City and the Chamber office.
“The Chamber is pleased to continue this series of unique ornaments,” said Penny Horton, executive secretary of the Chamber, in a press release. “We have a quantity of 315 available, and they always sell out very fast.”
Continuing the tradition
The limited-edition collectable ornaments began as a fundraiser in 1998 and have now become popular collectors’ items. They feature a different Scott County scene or destination each year.
Other ornaments in the series have featured popular attractions such as the Carter Fold, the A.P. Carter Cabin, Natural Tunnel State Park, the Falls of Little Stoney, Fannon Railroad Museum, Bush Mill, Kilgore Fort and the Santa Train. A few of the previous ornaments are still available.
