Nine new COVID-19 deaths, 267 new recoveries in Tennessee

The Tennessee Department of Health on Monday reported 325 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total to 13,502 since tracking began in March.

The state also reported nine new deaths for a total of 219; eight new hospitalizations for a total of 1,143; and 267 new recoveries for a total of 6,801. Labs in the state had administered an aggregate of 211,443 tests for the virus — 6,836 more than in Sunday’s total.

The upper eight counties Northeast Tennessee reported eight new cases for a total of 209: Carter, 14; Greene, 43; Hancock, 0; Hawkins, 31; Johnson, 5; Sullivan, 57; Unicoi, 2; and Washington, 57. Six of the eight were in Sullivan County.

The state listed a total of 6,558 negative test results for Northeast Tennessee: Carter, 614; Greene, 925; Hancock, 77; Hawkins, 939; Johnson, 95; Sullivan, 1,842; Unicoi, 162; and Washington, 1,904.

The death toll in the upstate remained at six: Carter County, 1; Greene County 2; Hawkins County 2; and Sullivan County 1.

Northeast Tennessee had a total of 173 recoveries, Carter, 10; Greene, 35; Hawkins, 27; Johnson, 3; Sullivan, 47; Unicoi, 1; and Washington, 50.

The region had a net of 30 active cases.
