Gayle, a Grand Old Opry member and the sister of country music legend Loretta Lynn, has her own successful U.S. pop, country and gospel music career spanning more than four decades.
In 2017, Gayle was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry by Lynn. The Academy of Country Music recognized Gayle with a 2016 Cliffie Stone Pioneer Award for her lifetime achievements in country music, and in 2009 she was honored to receive her own star on the fabled Hollywood Walk of Fame. Gayle has also received several Grammys and other awards.
Eggar, a renowned cellist, composer, performer, and a return visitor to Gathering in the Gap, began playing the cello and piano at age 3, performed on Broadway and with the Metropolitan Opera at 7, and debuted at Carnegie Hall at 15. Eggar has performed worldwide as a solo cellist and pianist and with artists including Coldplay, Beyoncé, Bon Jovi, Evanescence, The Who, Pearl Jam, Tony Bennett, Josh Groban, Fall Out Boy, Kathleen Battle, Ray Lamontagne, Frank Ocean, Corinne Bailey Rae, and others.
Through the day, Gathering visitors can see and hear performers at the festival’s Main Stage and Acoustic Arbor sets. The festival’s Songwriting Contest and Instrument/Band competition are accepting entries, and more information and applications can be found at www.gatheringinthegap.org.
Visitors can also enjoy workshops, music jams, a children’s area, and the “Stitch in Time” Quilt Show. Food and craft vendors will also be at the Gathering.
