CHURCH HILL — Church Hill will be hosting its annual free children’s Trout Rodeo on Saturday, Sept. 23.

Every year the city dams Alexander Creek in sections for the full length it runs through Jaycees Park and fills the creek with “keeper-size” trout.

The event is sponsored by VFW Post 9754, Buffalo Springs Fish Hatchery, CASVA Angus Farm and Food City.

Children ages 4-16 can participate in the fishing competition. The age divisions are: 4-7, 8-11 and 12-16.

One trophy will be awarded to each age division (boy and girl) for the child who catches the first fish and the first child to catch the limit of 3.

An overall trophy will be given to the child who catches the largest fish of the day.

There will also be a chance for the children to win a new bicycle.

In addition, there will be doughnuts, drinks and plenty of fun for everyone.

The event will be held at Jaycees Park at 455 N. Central Ave. from 8:30 a.m. until 10 a.m.

Children don’t have to be from Church Hill to participate.

Register your child ahead of time at the Church Hill City Hall or at Jaycees Park on the day of the event before 8:15 a.m.
